Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Collector Set- Review & Swatches

With the holiday's fast approaching I thought I would share my thoughts on one of Tarte's holiday collections. This set is really beautiful and in my opinion the price point is very reasonable considering the quality and amount of products included.
For video review click on the link:
Tarte Away Oui Go Review & Swatches

Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Collector's Set
$48

Set includes:
  • 16 full size, French-inspired Amazonian Clay Eye Shadows (0.07 oz. each)
  • 4 full size Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blushes
  • 3 deluxe Maracuja Lip Glosses
  • Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
  • Portable collector's compact

This portable palette is so cute!
The top is faux leather which makes it easy to clean and it has a nice quilted pattern with pearl detailing. The bottom is a sturdy cardboard and it also has a nice mirror.

It's also portable so you can switch it up and take it on the go.
I love that the palette's don't fall out and have a strong magnet to keep them in place.

I love these shadows and how easy they are to blend. They are all neutral shades but at the same time you can create many different looks. Easy daytime to smokey nighttime looks. What I love the most is that there is a great variety of shades for different skins tones especially the blushes. You are sure to find something that will work for you in this set.

First Palette
(Left to Right)
Private Chateau, Cafe for Creme Brulee, Tea for Two, Marvel at the Mona Lisa, Irresistible (Blush)

Intrigue- (Blush)

For me these next products weren't as much as a hit. I can still make them work but they were not my favorites in the set.

First up let's talk about the mascara.
I LOVE mascara and enjoy trying different formulas and brushes. This one is not bad but it's not my favorite. I still prefer my drugstore one to this. It has a nice brush and the packaging is really nice and sturdy.
This formula tends to smudge but that could just be me since I've been having that problem lately with my other mascaras. I really like how this brush separates my lashes for a more natural look but it doesn't provide the fullness and volume I prefer.

Now for the glosses, the shades included in this set are really nice but I don't like the sticky texture. However,  they do have a refreshing mint scent to them which I love in lip products and they are nicely pigmented.

(Left to Right)
Nice (nude mauve), Cannes (light pink), Paris (raspberry)

Overall I think this is a wonderful set that would make a lovely addition to any makeup lovers collection!
The price is amazing and the quality of the products is incredible.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it helpful.
Until next time!

Ulta Haul! Makeup, Skin Care...

Hi! Today on the blog, my recent Ulta purchases. I do have a video so click below to check it out if you're interested in hearing me talk more about these products.

After checking out all of the holiday collections available at Ulta I decided to purchase the
$48.00

The exclusive, limited-edition set includes:
  • 16 full size, French-inspired Amazonian Clay Shadows
  • 4 full size Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blushes: Irresistible (soft melon), Envisioned (sheer coral), Limitless (peach rose), Intrigue (rose petal)
  • 3 deluxe Maracuja Lip Glosses: Paris (raspberry), Cannes (light pink), Nice (nude mauve)
  • Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
  • Portable collector's compact
Beautiful neutral shades with a nice mix of mattes and shimmers. I will be doing a full review and blog post really soon!

While looking for a dupe to the Benefit Porefessional  I came across this product by Garnier.

$16.99
So far I've been really loving it! My pores are less visible and my makeup looks smoother. It also has no scent which I love!

Finally my local Ulta had the Essence Longlasting Lipsticks in stock and I picked up the few shades that were left.
$2.99 each

From Left to Right:

Nude Love 10: Soft Nude

Colour Crush 08: Bright coral pink

Wear Berries 06: Purplish Berry

(Nude Love 10) (Colour Crush 08) (Wear Berries 06)

I took advantage that they also had the Essence Lip Liner's in stock and picked up two shades.

Top to bottom:

12 Wish me a Rose

06 Satin Mauve
$1.49
Top (Wish me a rose) Bottom (Satin Mauve)
These pencils are super creamy. I have used them in the past and love how smooth they go on!

The last thing I picked up was some skin care products. I've been looking for an affordable replacement to my Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme SPF 15, which I LOVE!  While doing some research online I came across these products by  Boots No. 7

$13.99 each
Beautiful Skin DayNight Cream Normal/Dry Skin

These creams have a really nice texture. I don't think they would work for oily skin types since they are pretty rich and thick but if you have extremely dry skin I think you might like it. One thing I can't stand about these is the scent. It's so strong!!! They have a really strong powdery, floral, old lady perfume type of scent which I cannot stand. The scent also stays on your face the entire day/night which really bothers my allergies. If you are not sensitive to fragrances then you might like these.

That was everything from my haul hope you give some of these products a try. Take care!

Maybelline Fluid-Touch Foundation

This is the first review in my new series "Test it out Tuesday's." Today review is on the new Maybelline Fluid-Touch Foundation.
Click here to see the demo:
It is available in 12 different shades and retails for approx $9.99. You can find it here http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod10881158
I purchased the lightest shade in 10 Porcelain Ivory. It has SPF 20 and is 0.67 FL. Oz.
Ingredients:
It does have a slight alcohol scent when you first open the bottle but you cannot smell it one applied to the skin.

Let's talk about the packaging. The bottle is glass and reminds me of a large nail polish bottle. It doesn't have a pump, but has a neat little dropper. I don't like the dropper since it doesn't dispense any product out and almost seems pointless. It would have been better if it wasn't there but packaging is not a deal breaker for me as long as the inside product is worth the annoying packing.

Dropper close up

The coverage is light to slightly medium coverage and feels so natural on the skin, which makes it a perfect everyday/daytime kind of foundation. It almost feels like nothing on the skin and is so soft. It is a liquid to powder formula which took me some getting used to since I am typically a full coverage foundation kind of gal and had never tried anything like this. At first, the product will look very liquidy but once you blend on to the skin it will turn into a powder finish. I prefer the look of this when applied light and with a buffing brush. It still covers all my redness and evens out my skin tone.
 8 hours after applying.
This held up extremely well to the extreme Texas heat even after 8 hours. I forgot a before picture but it looked the same except a little more dewy at the end of the day. I only set my under eye concealer with powder and did not touch up the foundation throughout the day.
I think this would be best suited for normal skin types. If you have dry skin it could cling to some dry patches if you don't exfoliate and moisturize well because of the powdery finish. I still think that everyone should try it out you don't have anything to loose it's very affordable... for dry skin moisturize well and for oily combo skin you might need to touch up with powder through out the day. I say give it a try! I am so happy I decided try this out it looks so natural and has become my everyday foundation!

Until next time! Besitos!-Andrea

The Best Chewy Sugar Cookies- Fourth of July

Happy Independence Day!

I've tested so many sugar cookie recipes in the past and these are by far the best. They are chewy on the inside and have a nice crust on the outside which makes for the perfect cookie texture. These are so addictive!

Chewy Sugar Cookies:

2¼ cups (11¼ ounces) unbleached all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon table salt
1½ cups (10½ ounces) sugar, plus ⅓ cup for rolling
2 ounces cream cheese, cut into 8 pieces
6 tablespoons (¾ stick) unsalted butter, melted and still warm
⅓ cup vegetable oil
1 large egg
1 tablespoon milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1. Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 large rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper. Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in medium bowl. Set aside.

2. Place 1½ cups sugar and cream cheese in large bowl. Place remaining ⅓ cup sugar in shallow baking dish or pie plate and set aside. Pour warm butter over sugar and cream cheese and whisk to combine (some small lumps of cream cheese will remain but will smooth out later). Whisk in oil until incorporated. Add egg, milk, and vanilla; continue to whisk until smooth. Add flour mixture and mix with rubber spatula until soft homogeneous dough forms.

3. Divide dough into 24 equal pieces, about 2 tablespoons each (or use #40 portion scoop). Using hands, roll dough into balls. Working in batches, roll balls in reserved sugar to coat and evenly space on prepared baking sheet, 12 dough balls per sheet. Using bottom of drinking glass, flatten dough balls until 2 inches in diameter. Sprinkle tops evenly with 4 teaspoons of sugar remaining in shallow dish (2 teaspoons per tray), discarding any remaining sugar.

4. Bake, 1 tray at a time, until edges are set and just beginning to brown, 11 to 13 minutes, rotating tray after 7 minutes. Cool cookies on baking sheets 5 minutes. Using wide metal spatula, transfer cookies to wire rack and cool to room temperature.

 Enjoy!!! Xoxo-Andrea

Get Ready With Me Friday- Summery Makeup

It's Friday so you know what that means, new video is up on my channel!
This look is very easy and great for the summer.
Click below to get the look!

Here is what I used to get this look.

Starting with the face products.
1. For foundation I mixed Estee Lauder Double Wear in shades "1w2 Sand" and "1w1 Bone." This foundation is budge proof which makes it perfect for the summer.
2. I concealed and brightened under my eyes with Maybelline Instant Age rewind concealer in "Fair." It's also a summer favorite becuase of it's lightweight texture.
3. To set my under eyes I used my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte powder and dusted it over the concealed areas of my face.
4. For that summery bronze I applied Physicians Formula Broonze Booseter in "Light/Medium" with a fluffy brush through my cheekbone, temples, jawline and neck.
5. For a luminous peachy glow I buffed in my FAVORITE blush for summer which is Milani Baked Blush in "Luminoso." You need this blush in your life! Trust me! ;)
6. Finally I applied a bit of Mary-louminizer from The Balm to my cheekbones, cupids bow and brow bone for a luminous summery glow.

For the eyes.
1. I primed and concealed the discoloration in my lids with my Jordana Shadow stick in "Continously Almond." I love this stuff!
2. With Pop Beauty's Shadow Duo I applied "Bronze Boost" over the entire lid and blended that into my eye socket.
3. With the other shade in this duo "Naughty Nude" I dabbed that with my finger in the center of my lid to highlight and add a glow to my eyes.
4. With a pencil brush I applied "Brule" from Wet & Wild to my brow bone.
4. Next I moved on to my lashes and applied Benefit They're Real Mascara to give my lashes a boost.
5. Don't forget about your brows, I filled mine in with Anastasia Brow Duo in "Dark Brown" and Elf's Clear brow gel to set everything into place.

For the lips.
1. I filled in my lips with Bh Cosmetics Lustre Lipstick in "Naked Peach." These lipsticks are amazing and under $4!
2. To top off and complete my summery daytime look I applied Rimmel Stay Glossy in "Non stop glamour."

Have a great weekend! Until next time!
Xoxo- Andrea
